Pro Bono Consulting Resources
Having spent two decades as a paid consultant and pro bono consultant for hundreds of small- to medium-sized nonprofit organizations, I offer these resources free of charge to my fellow skilled volunteers who wish to join me in building the capacity of NGOs and being of service while traveling abroad. These include:
Sample Scope of Work (SOW)
Sample Consulting Agreement for Pro Bono Client
Pro Bono Project Guide (a great resource courtesy of the Taproot Foundation)
Sample Funding Prospect Tracking Chart (a common deliverable for nonprofit consultants)
Sample Fund Development Plan (from Rao-Hermon Consulting; more examples available upon request)
Fundraising Plan Template and Funding Sources spreadsheet (courtesy of Network for Good);
Sample Foundation Grant Proposal (we have many more examples to share)
Training materials on writing winning grant proposals. There are so many resources out there, but one that I have personally used and recommend is called Winning Grants Step by Step: The Complete Workbook for Planning, Developing, and Writing Successful Proposals, by Tori O'Neal-McElrath (available on Amazon and other book sellers)
Strategic planning resources for nonprofits abound, but I recommend you start with this set of templates from Asana on How to Build a Strategic Plan for your Nonprofit.
Here’s a list of great guides for nonprofit consultants and skilled volunteers:
Consulting With Nonprofits: A Practitioner's Guide by Carol A. Lukas and Vincent Hyman (available on Amazon among other book sellers)
Nonprofit Consulting Essentials: What Nonprofits and Consultants Need to Know, by Penelope Cagney, Alliance for Nonprofit Management (available on Amazon, etc.)
Pro Bono Project Guide (courtesy of the Taproot Foundation)
Powered by Pro Bono: The Nonprofits Step-by-Step Guide to Scoping, Securing, Managing, and Scaling Pro Bono Resources (the Taproot Foundation's book about how to leverage capacity building resources for nonprofit organizations)
